{"id":1002,"date":"2019-09-24T14:41:19","date_gmt":"2019-09-24T14:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishlivebearerassociation.co.uk\/site\/?p=1002"},"modified":"2023-08-15T10:03:21","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T10:03:21","slug":"bla-show-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishlivebearerassociation.co.uk\/site\/2019\/09\/24\/bla-show-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"BLA \u2013 Show rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The exhibitor has a\nduty of care to ensure that the fish provided for the show are the optimum\ncondition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The organisers will\nnot allow any fish into the show that is:-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Heavily gravid<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Showing poor health<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Showing signs of disease<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Showing signs of damage<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Showing undue distressed.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disqualified fish will\nbe moved to the treatment area by the exhibitor, who will be solely responsible\nfor the provision of any and all treatment\/care of the fish.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preparing and transporting your fish for the show <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It is a recommendation that you starve\nyour fish for 48 hours before the show, this reduces the possibility of your\nfish producing waste and ammonia which can contaminate the water within the transport\nbag and the show tank. <\/li><li>It is a recommendation that your fish\nare transported in bags with rounded seals to prevent the accidental trapping\nof fish in the corners. If these bags are not available then tape will be used\nto round the corners off.<\/li><li>The bag will be large enough to hold sufficient\nwater for the fish during the transportation to the show.<\/li><li>The bag will be tied off with a\nwater\/air ratio of one third water and 2 thirds air.<\/li><li>Fish should be bagged individually.<\/li><li>Use a suitable polystyrene box or other\nsuitable means to transport the fish and extra water to the show.<\/li><li>Where necessary use a heat pack or other\npreferred method to keep your fish\/water at the correct temperature.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Benching<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Arrive\nin plenty of time to bench your fish, giving them sufficient time to acclimatise\nfor showing after transportation.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Show tanks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All\nfish shall be shown in flat-sided rectangular Show tanks<\/li><li>The\nshow tank must be of sufficient size to allow the fish freedom of movement and\nthe ability to display at its full potential.<\/li><li>It\nis recommended that all Show tanks be fitted with clear loose fitting cover glasses<\/li><li>The\ncontainer base should be coloured black and all other faces to be clear.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Water<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All\nShow Tanks are to be adequately filled with water<\/li><li>Wherever\npossible the exhibitor will provide their own water to fill their show tank.<\/li><li>The\nShow Organisers will not be responsible for any loss of, or adverse effect on\nany fish caused by the water provided at the show.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Aeration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Aeration\nmay be used by the exhibitor, but will be removed during judging.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Treatment area<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Show\norganisers will provide a treatment area.<\/li><li>This\nwill separate to the benching area.<\/li><li>All\ndisqualified fish should be transferred to the triage area. <\/li><li>If\nthis is not possible then the fish must be covered up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following facilities will be made available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Aeration with airstone if required<\/li><li>A thermometer <\/li><li>Means of altering the water temperature.<\/li><li>A commercial stress treatment.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The exhibitor has a duty of care to ensure that the fish provided for the show are the optimum condition.
