BLA auctions format
Auction method
The BLA prefer the use of display stands to allow the buyers the opportunity to view the fish prior to being auctioned. Should circumstances arise that make the use of display stands unworkable then the committee reserve the right to revert to autioning lots directly from the seller’s boxes.
Display stand auction
Auction lots will be removed from the seller’s poly-boxes in a sequence to ensure that each seller has the same amount of lots selected for the display stand. Unsold lots will be placed in a designated poly-box for the seller to collect.
Please Note: The auction team reserve the right to check the seller’s auction lots in the seller’s prior to being auctioned. They will check to ensure the fish health, the bag condition and suitability, and accuracy of the labelling. Should any lot fail the inspection process, that lot will be returned to the Seller for remedial action or will be withdrawn from the auction.
Selling from boxes auction
The auction will commence with a maximum of 25 auction lots selected from each seller with an order of priority as follows:
- Donated lots
- Auction volunteers
- BLA Members
- Non-members
Each of the above will be subject to alphabetical order of the seller’s letter.
The auction will be subject to two rounds with the first 25 auction lots from each seller being offered in the first round. The second round will follow the same rotation of sellers and finish with any livestock and plants left on the sales table (if time allows).
The auction team will check each seller’s auction lots prior to them being auctioned.
The checks will be to ensure the condition of the fish, the condition of the bag and its suitability, and accuracy of the labelling.
Note: if any lot fails the inspection process, the lot will be returned to the Seller for remedial action or will be withdrawn from the auction. Should it be deemed necessary by the Auction Team.
