CHANGES TO THE BLA AUCTION AND SALES TABLE FORMATS
The BLA are getting ready for possible future legislation covering Livestock sales at Auctions and Sales tables. The sale of Livestock (in our case this means fish, shrimp and snails) is coming under scrutiny. To ensure we are ready for this, we have had to make a few changes to the way we run our Auctions and Sales Tables.
Our Auctions have already been using a system to pre-book Auction Lots. This system works well when correctly followed. However, when it isn’t correctly followed it can cause delays to the start of the Auction and a lot of stress to those who have to bring it back on track.
When you pre-book your Auction livestock, it solves many issues and headaches for us as organisers of the event. The first thing it does is allow us sufficient time to populate the Auction spreadsheet so we can record all the sales.
Don’t worry, we fully appreciate looking at your aquariums and making your list of Auction lots for pre-booking and going to catch them on the day are two different things. There will be time for you to confirm and where necessary alter your Auction lots on the sheets prior to the auction (Please give us the time to do this without delaying the auction).
AUCTION
- Fish
Each Seller will be allowed to enter a maximum of 50 lots into the auction.
If additional lots are required please fill in the section at the bottom marked relevant information. - This is a livebearer fish auction – Non livebearers are allowed within specified limits.
We specify that A minimum of 80% of your lots must be made up of livebearing fish. ie 4 out of every 5 lots are made up of Livebearing fish. If you wish to bring a higher ratio of non-livebearers as part of your lots
please fill in the section at the bottom marked relevant information. - Unsuitable fish for auction
no large aggressive hybrid cichlids such as flowerhorns will be allowed for sale. If in doubt ask first. - Shrimp, Snails and Plants.
We will not be having our own sales table at this event, Each Seller will be allowed to enter a maximum of 25 additional lots into the auction lots purely for shrimp, snails and plants if required. - Deviation from the above rules
Requests for additional lots or a higher ratio of non-livebearing fish lots will be considered on an individual basis. This request must be made directly to the auction manager before submitting any booking sheets.
COMMISSION CHARGED
We now operate a 2 tier commission system. Sellers who submit their prebooked auction lots before Saturday evening 6.00pm and arrive to confirm their auction lots (including any alterations) a minimum of 90 minutes before the auction is due to start, the commission charged will be 15%.
This is purely to ensure the auction starts on time.
If you contact us to inform us that your prebooking list will be late, or your arrival at the venue will be delayed for booking in, that will not be a problem as long as we know what is happening and the auction start time is not delayed.
Outside of this the commission will be charged at 20% on all auction sales
