The Fancy Guppy League
The fancy Guppies are holding the last leg of this year’s Fancy Guppy league.
Please note: If attending the show you will be able to admire some of the most beautiful guppies of the highest quality within the hobby. Please be aware that the Guppies have to be set up in the display tanks (commonly referred to as benching). Benching is done prior to being judged so while the fish are being benched or judged, please be patient and allow the exhibitors and judges’ sufficient time to complete their tasks before viewing.(Saturday only)
‘Ask the Expert’
This feature was introduced in the spring show and proved to be popular, you are invited to participate in this with your fish related problems, where hopefully our experts will be able to provide helpful guidance and advice. (Sunday)
Species to be shown in biotopes are:-
- Ameca splendens
- Gambusia marshi
- Poecilia wingii
- Special guest appearance – The famous ‘Bristol’ Guppy
these will be highlighted in an environment as close as possible to the one where they can be found. (All weekend)
Guppy and Livebearer auctions
The Fancy Guppies association will auction off some of the show Guppies following the announcement of the show results and presentations.
There is the chance to pick up those special guppies you really liked the look of when viewing the contestants during the auction. (Sunday)
The livebearer auction will complete the day with an auction of mainly wild type species, this is the best chance to find that species you have wanted for some time. (Sunday)
Following on from last year’s display we are going to host an Endler show, this is an informal event where we invite you to bring in your best pair or pairs of Endlers to display and for our judge to award points. The winners down to third place will receive a prize. Remember The main point of this is member participation. (Saturday)
A new area for us, this will follow the same format as for the Endler show but this time with Goodeids, again this is put out to the membership and we really need your participation for this to work. (Saturday)
The most important part of these shows is to provide the opportunity for you to meet some of our other members and discuss topics from species husbandry/breeding to tips on showing fish.
This is your chance to help shape the future of the BLA and voice your opinion. (Saturday)
