Join the British Livebearer Association

Membership of the Association is open to anyone interested in keeping and maintaining livebearing fishes whether wildform or cultivated.

The Association has been set up to keep members informed of availability, identification and maintenance of livebearing fish and will include new developments in conservation and report on descriptions of new species and name changes.

Communication with members will be mainly in the form of a magazine issued four times a year to be dispatched approx. March, June, September and December.

The Association year will start on 1st January and members may join at any time of the year and will receive all magazines issued from the beginning of the current year with their next magazine.

Membership subscriptions for 2009 will be:-

  • E-member    - UK or Overseas £12.00 To receive Magazines by e-mail only

  • Full Member - UK £16.00 To receive Magazines by post

  • Full Member - Overseas £20.00 To receive Magazines by post

Whichever type of membership you choose will only affect the way in which you receive the magazine and not other entitlements as a member such as attending meetings and auctions.

The Association will contribute one pound for every membership subscription to the Hobbyists Aqua Lab Conservation Project to help them fund the Ark project in Mexico.

A minimum of two events will be held each year. A Spring auction and a Convention and auction in the Autumn. Other events may take place during the year. Details will be published in the magazine and on the website.

There is a sub group for those interested in Guppies.

A species control system has been introduced to facilitate availability of the species throughout the membership. Members are asked to co-operate fully with this.
