Collected in February 1996 by Karl Mayerhofer, an aquarist whose interest is in Cichlids only. He left these fish with Norbert Svardal and Norbert took these fish to Ed Pürzl in Austria.
In 2004 Ed sent some over to the UK where they were bred & distributed to breeders. After future work these proved not to be true M.bifurca.
